Please read our full announcement here: Virtual MHC Announcement Theme Announcement In light of recent increases in coronavirus infections related to the Omicron variant, we believe that the most prudent course of action that prioritizes the health and safety of our attendees is to host a fully virtual conference. We hope that the theme, Revolutionary Healing and Rebuilding, will renew, inspire, and empower us all to reimagine the future of our communities. This year’s conference seeks to provide a space to acknowledge the wounds of systemic racism, reflect on the structural challenges and barriers to health equity, and advance the work being done to sow seeds that will grow into more equitable systems for tomorrow. As we learn from today to transform tomorrow, we must recognize the pressing need to take lessons from our current situation and act now to build a better, more equitable future. The conference theme, Revolutionary Healing and Rebuilding, recognizes that the first step in transforming systems and structures is to acknowledge past and present traumas of systemic racism. With the current increased focus on public health and equity, we are in a unique position to uproot and reconstruct our health systems. As such, governments, institutions, and communities are facing a crossroads we can either maintain the status quo, or radically change the way we do things. We are in the midst of multiple overlapping crises that impact human health and wellbeing –the COVID-19 pandemic, racial and systemic injustices, and worsening climate change, to name a few. Over 50 years later, this is once again one of the most critical questions our generation faces. He called for a shift in American society towards greater economic justice, without which there could be no true progress towards equality.

posed this question in his 1967 book of the same title, in which he reflected on the state of America following a decade of struggle for civil rights.

While I know that medical school can be overwhelming and there’s never enough free time, attending MSFC’s Conference on Family Planning is a valuable experience that is worth the time away from campus.“Where do we go from here?” Dr.

No matter your hesitation, fear not-the CoFP is a safe and welcoming place to start or expand your family planning education. No matter how far you are into your medical education, you will gain so much from MSFC’s conference! From the guest speakers to the hands-on training sessions, there is something for everyone. Since then, I developed an entire Family Planning course for our school and am currently leading a research project on family planning education for medical students. I took all that I had learned from the conference and all of the questions that I still had and carried them with me to the Abortion Training Institute later that year. I was encouraged to push myself out of my comfort zone to continue my abortion education. At the conference, I was able to not only learn more about reproductive health care, but also gain a better understanding of my own beliefs. We connected with leaders of other chapters and learned some amazing content that we then brought back to improve our own chapter. We heard from amazing speakers from all over the world (we even made our moms attend so we could attend *every*single* breakout session!). We began the year by attending the 2015 Conference on Family Planning in Philadelphia, PA, and it was such an amazing experience! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with open arms and were already known by name from our previous MSFC leadership involvement.
